The Piano Prep School program was created by classical pianist/teacher Robin Alciatore and early childhood music teacher Pam Perry to fill the need for meaningful, enriching piano lessons for preschool and kindergarten students who aren’t quite ready for more formal and structured piano lessons.
About Pam Perry
Pam Perry has lived in in the South Bay for more than 30 years and is a resident of Palos Verdes Estates. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Principia College in Illinois and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education from California State University, Long Beach, with an emphasis in instructional technology. Pam’s early music education included voice and piano lessons. During her career she has taught both music and general curriculum elementary school classes for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and at private schools in both Illinois and the South Bay area. Pam incorporates computer-based learning tools into her curriculum to help young students make and appreciate music.
Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University as well as a Master of Arts in Humanities (emphasis in 19th Century Romanticism). During her formative years, Robin studied with noted Italian concert pianist Nino Albanese and Dutch composer and pianist Bernard Verkaaik. In her teens, Robin won two successive Southern California Bach Festivals and a number of regional piano competitions. In college, Robin studied privately with renowned concert pianist and master teacher Johana Harris (UCLA) and continued post-graduate work with the esteemed Daniel Pollack (USC).
